KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 118,946 tonnes of cargo comprising 108,149 tonnes of import cargo and 10,797 tonnes of export cargo including 4,672 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 108,149 tonnes comprised of 49,426 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,271 tonnes of general cargo; 15,079 tonnes of bulk cargo: 3,657 tonnes of seeds; 5,432 tonnes of fertilizer; 5,990 tonnes of diammonium phosphate and 37,373 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 10,797 tonnes comprised of 5,364 tonnes of containerised cargo; 160 tonnes of general cargo and 5,273 tonnes of urea.

As many as 4,672 containers comprising of 3,683 containers import and 989 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,208 of 20’s and 1,204 of 40’s loaded while 01 of 20’s and 33 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 138 of 20’s and 46 of 40’s loaded containers while 39 of 20’s and 360 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely X-Press Makalu, Corona and Patara carrying containers, oil tanker and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. Piraeus, OOCL America, Northern Dependant, DL Clover, Arabian Orchid, BW Seine, New Hunter, Liberty Promise and Apex carrying containers, oil tankers, fertilizer, vehicles and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were two ships namely Polar Unicorn and Liberty Promise carrying oil tanker and vehicle respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely Tolten, Piraeus and Baltic Cove carrying containers and urea respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.

There were six vessels Piraeus, Ever Diamond, Tolten, MT Karachi, Maria, Bolero and ER Maden carrying containers, oil tankers, steel and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while five vessels viz. Hyundai Global, Kota Karim, Northern Decision, Grand Choice and Bao Flourish carrying containers, vehicle and steel respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 138,704 tonnes comprising 78,591 tonnes of import cargo and 30,113 tonnes of export cargo including 2,965 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 78,591 tonnes includes 21,905 tonnes of furnace oil; 14,611 tonnes of palm oil; 3,455 tonnes of rapeseeds; 10,823 tonnes of coal and 27,797 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,113 tonnes includes 28,538 tonnes of containerised cargo and 1,575 tonnes of sand.

As many as 2,965 containers comprising of 1,463 containers import and 1,502 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were three ships namely CV Mediterranean Bridge, MV Nicosia Pegasus and MT Brizo carrying containers, rapeseeds and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two ships namely CV MSC Aysa and CV X-Press Malaku carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV Mediterranean Bridge, CV MSC Aysa, CV X-Press Malaku, MV Koo Yang Singapore, MV Bulk Polaris, MV Sinar Kutal, MV Ocean Prefect, MV Nicosia Pegasus, MT Doe Won, MT Brizo and MT CTG Bismuth currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, sand, coal, rapeseeds, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen ships namely CV APL Miami, MV W Pacific, MV Kenta, MV Wade-Al-Bustan, MV Dracon Ocean, MV Yasailhan, MT Black Pearl, MT Totonno Bottiglieri, MT Lion-M, MT Mezaira, MT Margarita, MT Glorious and MT Yukon Star carrying containers, soyabean seeds, coke, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV APL Miami, CV Maersk Memphis, MV W Pacific, MV Dracon Ocean and MT Glorious carrying containers, soyabean seeds, coal and diesel oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were five ships namely CV APL Miami, CV Maersk Memphis, CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV GH Cheinook and MT Gaslog Greece carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.

There are two ships namely CV MSC Charm and MV Warisa Naree carrying containers and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
