KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 155,212 tonnes of cargo comprising 107,009 tonnes of import cargo and 48,203 tonnes of export cargo including 6,407 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 107,009 tonnes comprised of 48,078 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,480 tonnes of general cargo; 34,159 tonnes of bulk cargo: 28,408 tonnes of coal; 5,751 tonnes of fertilizer and 14,292 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 48,203 tonnes comprised of 30,021 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,682 tonnes of urea and 14,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,407 containers comprising of 3,105 containers import and 3,302 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,285 of 20’s and 830 of 40’s loaded while 04 of 20’s and 78 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 641 of 20’s and 427 of 40’s loaded containers while 713 of 20’s and 547 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were five ships namely CMA CGM Tosca, Hyundai Faith, Sea Princess, Flagship Orchid and Triton Seahawk carrying containers, oil tankers and fertilizer respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Polo, Alpine Mathilde, Nord Chest, Al-Rahim, Al-Rehman, Danica Violet and Alina carrying containers, oil tanker, coal, bulker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were two ships namely C Sima Genesis and Alpine Mathilde carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Polo carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday.

There were four vessels MSC Tasmania, Maliakos, Wawasan Topaz and Al-Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tanker and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while five vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg, Caribbean, Sea Hawk, MT Quetta and Star Ploeg carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 141,278 tonnes comprising 108,920 tonnes of import cargo and 32,358 tonnes of export cargo including 3,458 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 108,920 tonnes includes 26,373 tonnes of furnace oil; 7,200 tonnes of LNG; 1,527 tonnes of LPG; 13,949 tonnes of palm oil; 10,513 tonnes of coal; 8,263 tonnes of chemical; 2,601 tonnes of fertilizer and 38,494 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 32,358 tonnes includes 27,208 tonnes of containerised cargo and 5,150 tonnes of cement.

As many as 3,458 containers comprising of 2,026 containers import and 1,432 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely MV Al-Sheehaniya and MT Lion-M carrying LNG and furnace oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely MV Thor Insuvi and MV Yasa Illhan carrying containers are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

There is one ship namely CV Maersk Columbus carrying containers expected to sail at night hours.

A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV Maersk Columbus, CV MSC Al-Ghero, MV Thor Insuvi, MV Ocean Prefect, MV Yasa Ilhan, MV Kenta, MV Al-Sheehaniya, MV YM Miranda, MT Gas Esco, MT Lady Amna, MT Lion-M and MT Chemroad Nova currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, coal, soyabean seeds, chemical, LNG, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen ships namely MV Star Ploeg, MV Xiang-22, MV Wade-Al-Bustan, MV Gong Yin-1, MT Gas Husky, MT White Purl, MT Pavino Spirit, MT Margarita, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Dasma, MT Bahra, MT Chemroad Nova and MT Genuine Galaxy carrying soyabean, coke, coal, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were two vessels viz. MV Wade-Al-Bustan and MT Pavino Spirit carrying coke and furnace oil expected to take berths at Iron Ore & Coal Berth and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were nine ships namely CV CCNI Arauco, CV MSC Sussana, CV MSC Sindy, CV Prosper, MV Nord Crest, MV Da King, MT White Purl, MT Bahra and MT Tembek carrying containers, coal, project cargo, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.

There is one ship namely CV Suez Canal carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
