KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 180,371 tonnes of cargo comprising 143,625 tonnes of import cargo and 36,746 tonnes of export cargo including 6,574 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 143,625 tonnes comprised of 48,071 tonnes of containerised cargo; 280 tonnes of general cargo; 7,058 tonnes of fertilizer and 88,216 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 36,746 tonnes comprised of 35,707 tonnes of containerised cargo; 239 tonnes of general cargo and 800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,574 containers comprising of 3,301 containers import and 3,273 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 991 of 20’s and 1,106 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 49 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 791 of 20’s and 791 of 40’s loaded containers while 156 of 20’s and 372 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were seven ships namely KMTC Mumbai, Ital Mattina, MT Shalamar, Advance Victoria, New Hunter, Umm Ad dajkh and Chang Xu carrying containers, oil tankers, DAP and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Ever Divine, Triua, Cali, Chemroad Nova, Sea Hawk, Breezy Victoria and Le Cong carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were four ships namely Northern Dependant, Kota Kaya, Cali and HTC Charlie carrying containers and DAP respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Ever Divine carrying containers is expected to sail on Thursday.

There were three vessels MOL Explorer, Hansa Neuburg and Liberty Passion carrying containers and vehicle respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while four vessels viz. Bodo Schulte, CT Confidence, Elgiznur Cebi and Noble Coral carrying containers, chemical, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 105,727 tonnes comprising 66,352 tonnes of import cargo and 39,375 tonnes of export cargo including 2,515 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 66,352 tonnes includes 28,664 tonnes of diesel oil; 7,273 tonnes of soyabean seeds and 13,440 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 39,375 tonnes includes 39,375 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,515 containers comprising of 640 containers import and 1,875 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely MV Victoria Harbour and MT SCF Pioneer carrying steel coil and diesel oil respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two more ships namely CV Maersk Kinloss and MV Ocean Prefect carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Heidi, CV Maersk Kinloss, MV Victoria Harbour, MV Chang An, MV Ocean Prefect, MV Gong Yin-1, MV Kenta, MT White Purl and MT SCF Pioneer currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, steel coil, animal feeds, coal, soyabean seeds, LPG and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as eight ships namely MV Xiang-22, MV Sakizaya Elegance, MV Kiran Marmara, MV Ruining, MT Epic Silcily, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Dasma and MT Bahra carrying soyabean, canola seeds, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three vessels viz. MV Da Kang, MV Chamroad Queen and MT Lion-M carrying project cargo, chemical and furnace oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were six ships namely CV MSC Sussana, CV Prosper, CV Navos Verano, MV Nord Crest, MT Tembek and MT Pavino Spirit carrying containers, coal, LNG and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
