KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 100,374 tonnes of cargo comprising 76,095 tonnes of import cargo and 24,279 tonnes of export cargo including 4,457 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 76,095 tonnes comprised of 40,955 tonnes of containerised cargo; 19,634 tonnes of general cargo and 15,506 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 24,279 tonnes comprised of 18,706 tonnes of containerised cargo; 373 tonnes of general cargo and 5,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 4,457 containers comprising of 2,352 containers import and 2,105 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 756 of 20’s and 757 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 41 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 539 of 20’s and 137 of 40’s loaded containers while 496 of 20’s and 398 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were ten ships namely UAFL Zanzibar, Cosco New York, Kota Lahir, Hyundai Force, Alpine Monique, BW Thames, TRF Kristansand, Elgiznur Cebi, CT Confidence and Spiekeroog carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels viz. Kota Kamil, MT Quetta, Oriental Jasmine and Spiekeroog carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were four ships namely Sima Genesis, Al Mahboobah, Magnum Power and Danica Violet carrying containers, chemical, steel and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while two ships namely Kota Kamil and Oriental Jasmine carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.

There were three vessels MSC Lara, Kota Layar and Asavari carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while eight vessels viz. Northern Priority, Wan Hai-506, Hansa Offenburg, Selini, MT Karachi, Ark Progress, Magnolia and Pelagica carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical, DAP and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 130,897 tonnes comprising 108,439 tonnes of import cargo and 22,458 tonnes of export cargo including 3,438 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 108,439 tonnes includes 43,728 tonnes of Furnace oil; 10,000 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 6,500 tonnes of coal; 4,083 tonnes of animal feeds; 1,264 tonnes of LPG and 42,864 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 22,458 tonnes includes 22,458 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,438 containers comprising of 2,256 containers import and 1,182 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely CV Maersk Detroit and MT Epic Sicily carrying containers and LPG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.

A total number of seven vessels viz. CV MSC Busan, CV Maersk Detroit, MV Chang An, MV Kiran Marmara, MV QI-Xiang-22, MT Epic Sicily and MT Al-Salam-II currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, animal feeds, coal, soyabean seeds, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as seventeen ships namely MV Trade Will, MV Sakizaya Elegance, MV Magia, MV Yasa Aysen, MV Lanka Jaya, MV Ruining-2, MV Sea Delta, MV YM Miranda, MV Houyoshi Park, MT King Craft, MT Ashada, MT Pavino Spirit, MT Brizo, MT Mezaira, MT Leader, MT Bahra and MT SC Brilliant carrying sunflower seeds, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LPG, crude oil, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four vessels viz. MV Lanka Jaya, MV YM Miranda, MV Houyashi Park and MT SC Brilliant carrying coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were five ships namely CV MSC Sussana, CV Navos Verano, CV APL Antwerp, CV CMA CGM Amazon and CV Uni Florida carrying containers due to arrive on Wednesday.

There is one ship namely CV Maipo carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
