KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 154,675 tonnes of cargo comprising 127,318 tonnes of import cargo and 27,357 tonnes of export cargo including 6,806 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 127,318 tonnes comprised of 66,628 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,455 tonnes of general cargo; 31,931 tonnes of bulk cargo: 17,500 tonnes of coal; 2,876 tonnes of rock phosphate; 11,555 tonnes of fertilizer and 25,304 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 27,357 tonnes comprised of 23,537 tonnes of containerised cargo; 620 tonnes of general cargo and 3,200 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 6,806 containers comprising of 4,264 containers import and 2,542 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,504 of 20’s and 1,341 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 39 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 649 of 20’s and 378 of 40’s loaded containers while 209 of 20’s and 464 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely Wide India, MT Quetta, Butinah, Sea Prosperity, Positive Brave, Le Man Express, Thorco Cassiopeia and CS Flourish carrying containers, oil tanker, rock phosphate, DAP, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were nine vessels viz. Ever Diamond, MSC Manya, Kota Kasturi, CPO Malaysia, SC Hong Kong, Sea Lion, Rising Falcon, Positive Brave and Le Man Express carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, fertilizer, rock phosphate and vehicle respectively currently at the berths.

There were five ships namely Sima Genesis, MSC Manya, Kota Kasturi, SC Hong Kong and Thor Friendship carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while three ships namely Ever Diamond, YM Orchid and Kong Que Zuo carrying containers and mogas respectively are expected to sail on Thursday.

There were six vessels MOL Earnest, Azalea Galaxy, MT Shalamar, Alpine Panelope and Caribbean Harmony carrying containers, oil tankers, mogas and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while two vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg and Sabya carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 156,648 tonnes comprising 137,307 tonnes of import cargo and 19,341 tonnes of export cargo including 4,481 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 137,307 tonnes includes 23,055 tonnes of diesel oil; 15,300 tonnes of palm oil; 2,065 tonnes of sunflower; 14,000 tonnes of coal; 12,188 tonnes of phosphoric acid and 70,699 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 19,341 tonnes includes 4,901 tonnes of cement and 14,440 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,481 containers comprising of 3,721 containers import and 760 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely MT Mezaira carrying diesel oil sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely MV Greenwigh Park carrying phosphoric acid is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Tomoko, CV APL Antwerp, MV Trade Will, MV Laganda, MV Majestic Sky, MV Magia, MV Greenwigh Park, MT Mezaira and MT Yukon Star currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, sunflower seeds, soyabean seeds, cement, coal, phosphoric acid, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as ten ships namely MV Medi Chiba, MV Sakzaya Miracle, MV Diyaa-B, MV Klima, MV Yasa Aysen, MT Sea Speed, MT Lion-M, MT New Century, MT Glorious and MT Ensemie carrying soyabean seeds, canola seeds, coal, clinker, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were two vessels viz. MV Million Bell and MT Glorious carrying coal and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Iron Ore & Coal Berth and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were four ships namely CV Maersk Pittsburg, CV Hugo Scheduled, CV San Felex and CV MSC Virgo carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.

There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Nerval and CV Xiaman carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
