KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 175,074 tonnes of cargo comprising 102,309 tonnes of import cargo and 72,765 tonnes of export cargo including 9,726 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 102,309 tonnes comprised of 79,185 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,455 tonnes of bulk cargo; 3,611 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 17,058 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 72,765 tonnes comprised of 43,053 tonnes of containerised cargo; 600 tonnes of bulk cargo; 20,112 tonnes of wheat and 9,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 9,726 containers comprising of 5,733 containers import and 3,993 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,748 of 20’s and 1,753 of 40’s loaded while 409 of 20’s and 35 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,112 of 20’s and 616 of 40’s loaded containers while 273 of 20’s and 688 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely JPO Atair, Prosper, Northern Javelin, Sima Genesis, Athens Bridge, MT Lahore, Reem-3, Yukon Star and Chang Hang Han Hai carrying containers, oil tanker, bitumen, molasses and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were five vessels viz. Hyundai Courage, Polo, OOCL Busan, MSC Mila-3 and Xin Xia Men carrying containers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 153,039 tonnes comprising 124,995 tonnes of import cargo and 28,044 tonnes of export cargo including 4,234 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 124,995 tonnes includes 54,200 tonnes of LNG; 7,083 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,073 tonnes of coal; 240 tonnes of general cargo and 52,402 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 28,044 tonnes includes 28,044 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 4,234 containers comprising of 2,758 containers import and 1,476 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were three ships namely CV Maersk Pittsburg, MV Widyslan Okran and MT Al-Gharrfa carrying containers, general cargo and LNG respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday.

A total number of seven vessels viz. CV Maersk Pittsburg, CV MSC Busan, MV Widyslan Okran, MV Da Cia Yun, MV Crimson Empress, MV Pacific Valor and MT Al-Gharrfa were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, soyabean seeds, coal and LNG respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen ships namely MV White Hawk, MV Royal Hope, MV Zhen Bang, MV African Puff In, MV Islander, MV GP Asphalt-III, MV GSW Fabullous, MV Straum, MT Maria-III, MT Maersk Magellan, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Glorious and MT Constantino carrying soyabean, canola seeds, coal, cement, bitumen, chemical, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There was one vessel viz. MV Straum carrying chemical expected to take berth at Engro Vopak Terminal on Wednesday.

There were four ships namely CV Songa Calabria, CV Uni Florida, CV Libra and MT Maran Gas Coronis carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.

There are two ships namely CV APL Antwerp and CV CMA CGM Amazon carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
