PESHAWAR: President Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) Zahidullah Shinwari has expressed concern over the harassment of traders and shopkeepers and imposition of unjustified and illegal penalties on them by district, town administration, food department and traffic sergeants and demanded of the provincial government for taking stern action against the officers and personnel involved in the episode.

Talking to a delegation of Traders Grand Alliance Peshawar, he said instead of harassment, the government should facilitate the terrorism and militancy-affected business community, adding that they will not allow any kind of injustice with them.

The delegation headed by President of the Traders’ Grand Alliance, Haji Mohammad Iqbal comprised of Haleem Said Mohmand and Haji Kabul Khan called on the SCCI chief in Chamber House here Tuesday.

The members of the delegation, while briefing the SCCI chief regarding problems faced by them told that since last one-year, the traders and shopkeepers of Bacha Khan Chowk, Pajagy Road and Shami Road are being penalized in shape of unjustified illegal penalties by district administration, traffic police and others.

They said the harassment committed by the different government organizations is affecting their businesses and they are passing through extreme agony and requested the SCCI chief for taking action for the resolution of their problems.

Talking to the delegation, the SCCI chief assured that they will not tolerate excess with any trader or shopkeeper and said that his door is open for all. The chamber, he said will be utilized for the in discriminatory service of the business community.
