KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 155,908 tonnes of cargo comprising 135,087 tonnes of import cargo and 20,821 tonnes of export cargo including 7,037 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.

The total import cargo of 135,087 tonnes comprised of 58,436 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,322 tonnes of general cargo; 17,879 tonnes of bulk cargo and 53,450 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 20,821 tonnes comprised of 17,321 tonnes of containerised cargo and 3,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,037 containers comprising of 4,161 containers import and 2,876 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,491 of 20’s and 1,305 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 30 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 432 of 20’s and 225 of 40’s loaded containers while 274 of 20’s and 860 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely Athens Bridge, Jo Pinari, Leo, Alam Sayang, Tiger Beijing and Mysora carrying containers, oil tanker, steel, coal and animel respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were seven vessels viz. Hyundai Global, Ever Divine, Kota Karim, Bow Mekka, Catamarca, Global Brave and Kong Que Song carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were four ships namely Hyundai Global, Kota Karim, Amazon Guardian and Phoenix carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely Du Juan Song carrying general cargo expected to sail on Thursday.

There were three vessels viz. MSC Kerry, Maritime Equator and Maritime Longevity carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while five vessels viz. Hansa Neuburg, MOL Earnet, APL Norway, Northern Dependant and Cevde-A carrying containers and chemical respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 152,746 tonnes comprising 111,864 tonnes of import cargo and 40,882 tonnes of export cargo including 4,193 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

As many as 4,193 containers comprising of 3,248 containers import and 945 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There were two ships namely MT Norstar Invictus and MV Industrial Century carrying oil tanker and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while four more ships namely MV Era-S, MT Gas Amazon, MT Everrich-6 and Golar Bear carrying rice, soyabean, LPG and crude oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV CSAV Tyndall, CV Maersk Columbus, X-Press Makalu, MV Era-S, MT Norstar Invictus, MV Industrial Century, MV Agios Nicolas, MV Everrich-6, MT Gas Amazon, MT Golar Bear, MT Methane Nile Eagle and MT Gao Cheng-2 were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, general cargo, soyabean, LNG, LPG, crude oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as seven ships namely CV CSAV Tyndall, CV Maersk Columbus, MV Industrial Century, MT Gas Amazon, MT Methane Nile Eagle, MT Niaz Gas and MT BM Danube carrying rice, project cargo, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were four vessels viz. MV Pan Ocean, MV Dakang, MT Niaz Gas and BW Danube carrying rice, project cargo, LPG and diesel oil respectively expected to take berths at Multi Purpose Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There was one vessel viz. CV Mataquito carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
