PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) has feared that the industrialists will not be able to run their industries and pay wages to workers owing to energy crisis.
The representatives of industrialists at a meeting with SCCI president Sherbaz Ilyas Bilour here on Wednesday showed concerns over low industrial production and blamed frequent power tripping and low voltage for the existing situation.
They said that industrialists were left with the only option to shut their workplaces.
According to a statement, the participants of the meeting said that many of the expensive machines, electrical appilances and other items had broken down due to tripping, fluctuation and low power voltage.
Sherbaz Ilyas Bilour said that industries were a prime source of employment for a large number of people. He feared that closure of industries would cause unemployment in the province that would ultimately affect the poor labourers.
The SCCI chief termed the frequent electricity tripping and low voltage an organised conspiracy against industrialisation and asked Pescotoensure uninterrupted power supply to all industrial estates in the province.-Bureau
